Today was the first flight at Parowan. I took off around 12:30pm. By that time, thermals were well developed, and I took advantage of water (28 gallons on wings + 1 gallon in tail). Went to Capitol Reef National Park for the first time. Cloudbase was a bit low (~16,500ft), but thermals were well-marked by clouds, and it was easy to fly. The view was great, but there is no place to landout in this area.
When I took off, the tow plane was a 150hp Cessna 150, and I had 29 gallons of water. I said so to the tow pilot before we took off, and we took off and climbed without any problems even though there was even slight tail wind. But apparently, that was considered to be marginal. Honestly, I didn't have any problem, and it would be fine with me if I need to do it again.
Lots of small reefs
